Welcome to GatorMUN X!

Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Model United Nations enthusiasts,

It is my distinct honor to invite you to the tenth annual Gator Model United Nations conference. GatorMUN X will be held from February 1st to February 3rd, 2013 in the J. Wayne Reitz Union, located on the University of Florida's beautiful campus. Our conference is designed to give delegates the opportunity to learn about significant historical and contemporary national and international issues. At GatorMUN, delegates develop their abilities in public speaking, collaborating, and formal writing while also creating innovative solutions to the challenges they are presented with. Throughout the weekend, delegates will have the opportunity to put these skills into action as they confront a wide array of issues. It is up to the delegates to defend the interests of their countries or personas, whether those views are similar to their own or not.

GatorMUN has grown immensely over the past ten years and we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in making this conference successful. Over the past ten years, GatorMUN has matured to provide unique and engaging experiences to every delegate. It is our goal to continue expanding GatorMUN while still maintaining the low delegate to staff ratio our conference is known for. This year our committees will include the traditional UN bodies and regional organizations, along with multiple fast paced crisis simulations. The wide variety of committees GatorMUN is planning to offer is designed to appeal to the many different interests that our delegates have.

In order to ensure that every delegate has an outstanding conference experience, each of our well-trained, knowledgeable staff members dedicates countless hours throughout the year to prepare for GatorMUN. Our staff consists of over 70 committed individuals, most of whom compete with the University of Florida's Model United Nations team at the collegiate level. From writing and editing background guides to providing delegates with the tools they need to get on the right track, the Secretariat and staff works all year to make sure the weekend is a memorable experience for all. It is the delegates' dedication and enthusiasm for Model UN and international issues that makes putting this conference together so meaningful and rewarding for the GatorMUN X staff.

As you decide which conferences your school will be attending throughout the year, feel free to browse our website and please do not hesitate to contact myself or the Secretariat at gatormun@gmail.com with any questions you may have about GatorMUN. I can assure that your delegates will have an extraordinary time along with an intellectually stimulating experience at GatorMUN. I hope that you can join us in February for the premier Model United Nations Conference in Florida!

Sincerely,

Tyler Kaub
