Seventh Summit of the Americas Director: Austin Koenig
As Latin America reached the turning point of the second decade of the twenty first century leaders from the region united together to tackle problems both new and old that plagued their denizens. Since the Spanish first established modern governments in the region corruption has been a key part of the political scene in Latin America. It has defined everything from the laws to the everyday lives of citizens. While ensuring a positive future for Latin America is important this summit must also address current issues. The nation of Venezuela has been thrown into total economic turmoil and as a result the quality of life for citizens has dramatically decreased. This in a large part is directly correlated to the actions of this nation’s government and this summit must find efficient ways to reform and repair the nation’s political infrastructure. By doing this together we will effectively establish a foundation to promote further economic and political growth to benefit all in the region, not just those in power.
