Watergate, The Pentagon Papers and #MeToo. What do all of these prominent historical events have in common? They came about from great works of journalism that aimed to hold those in power accountable. Here at The Gator Globe, our mission is no different. The Gator Globe is a news conglomerate of highly respected news outlets from across the world — some being broadcast, print or radio. As chief correspondents from your respective outlets, you will be tasked with producing compelling news that keeps readers informed while attending this year’s GatorMUN International News Summit. While reporting on all of the different committees at the summit, you’ll produce standard breaking news articles, short feature stories and a longform investigative piece to turn in by the end of the conference. At the summit, you’ll also learn how to combat misinformation, how to be an efficient journalist in the digital age and how to keep powerful figures responsible for their actions. This committee will require you to be quick on your feet and be comfortable conducting interviews with other delegates. It also requires you to meet deadlines while writing quality articles.
Position papers will be required. Having a device capable of taking photos/videos is strongly recommended.
