International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) works on investing in rural populations and their people. The IFAD hopes to achieve food security, nutrition, and incomes for people specifically in rural areas by aiding in agricultural development. Since being formed in 1978, they have served as an international financial institution along with providing new ideas about community based agricultural techniques. IFAD focuses on agriculture but it has a variety of indirect consequences as well within the community such as promoting gender equality, preventing climate change, and stabilizing financial markets. With the topics of nutrition and market access plaguing impoverished nations around the world now more than ever, it is important to always take a step back and look specifically into the rural communities that are normally neglected on a world scale.
