In 2018, the Walt Disney Company announced it would construct a new Disneyland park on the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i. After having built five parks on three continents it has become the strategy of the company to use those who will be running the park to plan the park. This committee will draft the plans for the park, oversee its construction, and eventually its operation. Delegates will be expected to create a park that lives up to the Disney brand, being engaging and magical for all ages. This will be Disney’s first park to be built in the Polynesian islands, and the committee will have to choose how to best integrate Disney Magic within the context of the Hawai’ian culture and practice on the island.
