In a climate of intense sociopolitical and environmental conflict with the federal government, a movement has been slowly gaining momentum for California to once again be a true Republic through the Calexit referendum on the Spring 2018 ballot. Of course California, comprised of distinct and unique regions with varying interests, is no stranger to secession movements or intra-state tensions. However the last time a State seceded from the Union was during the Confederacy movement of 1861 and led to the bloodiest war America has ever endured. It is at this unparalleled historic crossroads that political leaders, heads of industry and representatives from major State departments must come together to find the best path forward for all citizens of California. Will they manage to foster a successful unified nation or will large scale conflict break out with devastating consequences? The future of California rests in their hands.
